Welcome To Ceredo, West Virginia

A Town of Progress

and Beauty

Founded  by Eli Thayer in 1857, the Town of Ceredo is named for “Ceres”, the Greek goddess of  grain, a very appropriate name because of the abundance of corn that was grown here at the time. Because of the town’s close proximity to Huntington, WV and Ashland, KY, the community offers hometown living while providing a short driving distance to these larger metropolitan areas. The town is particularly proud of its well-maintained streets, beautification efforts, volunteerism programs, and hometown feel.
